Nonlinear characteristics and corrections of near-field underwater explosion shock waves

چکیده

The shock wave characteristics within the near-field are one of most challenging aspects understanding an underwater explosion. latest numerical and experimental techniques were utilized to investigate pressure distribution decay features after a disturbance. governing equations in simulation discretized with fifth-order weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme space third-order Runge–Kutta time, multi-medium interactions defined resolved via modified ghost fluid method. test system consisted synchronized high-speed framing camera polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) sensors. Three identical spherical composition B charges examined under same conditions, raw data from processed edge detection circle fitting techniques. comparison showed that image data, PVDF signals, computation results highly consistent each other. Higher-order correction terms added peak model as nonlinear corrections based on further comprehensive insightful analysis verified results. corrected models not only fit but had better accuracy far-field condition well.

sph simulation of waves associated with underwater explosion

the current manuscript presents the validation of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (sph) techniques for wave generation by underwater explosion, utilizing the so-called dualsphysics numerical model. this numerical method is used to analyze generated waves which are initiated by man-made or natural explosions below free surface level of sea. in spite of the modeling limitations (e.g. absence of o...

Lagrangian Averaging, Nonlinear Waves, and Shock Regularization

In this thesis, we explore various models for the flow of a compressible fluid as well as model equations for shock formation, one of the main features of compressible fluid flows. We begin by reviewing the variational structure of compressible fluid mechanics. We derive the barotropic compressible Euler equations from a variational principle in the material frame. The particle relabeling symme...

Nonlinear Stability of Semidiscrete Shock Waves

The orbital stability of possibly large semi-discrete shock waves is considered. These waves are traveling wave solutions of discrete in space and continuous in time systems of conservation laws, which constitute a class of Lattice Dynamical Systems. The underlying lattice xZis by nature not invariant by change of frame. Thus semi-discrete shock waves cannot really be transformed into stationar...

Survey of Temperature Measurement Techniques For Studying Underwater Shock Waves

Several optical methods for measuring temperature near underwater shock waves are reviewed and compared. The relative merits of the different techniques are compared, considering accuracy, precision, ease of use, applicable temperature range, maturity, spatial resolution, and whether or not special additives are required.

Nonlinear Fresnel diffraction of weak shock waves.

Fresnel diffraction at a straight edge is revisited for nonlinear acoustics. Considering the penumbra region as a diffraction boundary layer governed by the KZ equation and its associated jump relations for shocks, similarity laws are established for the diffraction of a step shock, an "N" wave, or a periodic sawtooth wave. Compared to the linear case described by the well-known Fresnel functio...
